Sorrento Tickets: What Costs Money and What Is Free

Two near-free categories sit beside the table: the harbour at Marina Grande, where entry is free and lunch is the bill, and the beach strips on the beaches page, where the free sand and rock platforms alternate with paid clubs from $81.10 (€70) a day in low season. Nothing on this list needs a booking, which is the quiet advantage of this town over most of Italy.

The museum ticket. Museo Correale sells from its own shop at from $17.39 (€15), with students, FAI and Touring Club members at $8.69 (€7.50) and groups from 25 at $11.60 (€10). The three-museum Sorrento Museums bundle at $35.90 (€31) stays valid for 180 days, which makes it the only multipass-shaped object in town. The museum closes Mondays and every year from 6 January to 2 April, and its clock hours live on a separate Orari page, not on the shop.

The ferry ticket. Marina Piccola's ferries are transport, not attractions, but they behave like tickets: the Capri crossing is $25.50 (€22) one way or $51.00 (€44) return on the standard route, the Positano line runs 1 April to 3 November at $24.90 (€21.50), and every arrival at Capri pays the town's landing fee on top. Buy at the NLG office at Piazza Marinai d'Italia, open 07:00 to 19:00, or compare the reservable ticket on the ferry page.

The day-trip gate. Pompeii sells nominal timed tickets under a 20,000 visitors a day cap: $23.20 (€20) Express, $29.00 (€25) Plus with the suburban villas, $34.80 (€30) for the three-day Grande Pompeii. An on-site supplement of $9.27 (€8), card only, upgrades an Express ticket for the villas. Vesuvius sells the crater trail only through its online portal at $13.54 (€11.68); there is no on-site ticket office, so this is the one gate that must be bought before you leave Sorrento.

The tour booking. Boat days, guided pairings and classes are bookings rather than tickets, with operator cancellation terms, and they are compared rather than listed here; the tours hub puts all 37 on one table against the gate prices. The honest overlap: several tours include the very gates above, and only some of them say so clearly in the listing.

There is no Sorrento city pass. No consortium card, no 24 or 72 hour transport-plus-museums product, nothing comparable to the Firenzecard or the Roma Pass appears in the town's official channels, and the facts gathered for this guide found no operator selling one on 12 September 2026. The reason is structural: the town's sights are mostly free, so a pass would have nothing to discount.

The closest thing is the Sorrento Museums bundle: $35.90 (€31) covering three museums, valid 180 days, sold from the official Correale shop. It is worth its money if you will visit all three at roughly $11.97 (€10.33) each, and poor value if you only want the Correale, which costs $17.39 (€15) alone. For transport there is no tourist pass either: the Circumvesuviana charges per ride, and the getting around page prices the realistic week.

None of these five is a scam; all five are published rules that the ticket-selling layer tends to bury. The day trips hub folds the fees into its per-trip arithmetic so the totals are honest before you book.

• The Capri landing fee. $5.80 (€5) per person from 1 April to 31 October, $2.90 (€2.50) from 1 November to 31 March, charged on top of every ferry and every boat tour that lands on the island, per town-council resolutions of 12 January 2024.
• The Pompeii villa supplement. An Express ticket can be upgraded on site for the suburban villas at $9.27 (€8), card only; the Plus ticket prepays the same access at the gate.
• Ferry luggage. $5.80 (€5) per piece on the Positano line per the operator's route page, and the airport-sized roller counts, so a family pays it four times each way.
• The winter museum. From 6 January to 2 April the Correale is shut, which is exactly when the €31 bundle's other two museums carry the town's paid culture; check they are open before buying the bundle in February.
• The suspended train. The premium Campania Express is suspended from 1 October 2026; any autumn ticket bought for it is a refund conversation with EAV, so plan on the ordinary Circumvesuviana.
